This release adds some major improvement of the memory management within the Seismon tracedisplay module. This increases the speed when moving around in large continuous datasets.
I have also fixed a bug in the GSE import module. The UTC time has been calculated wrong depending on the timezone and daylight saving mode.. The GSE data should now be timestamped correctly.
The new Seismon release moreover adds the possibility to convert miniSeed data during the first import of the files to Matlab binary files. This improves the speed to load the data for displaying it significantly with the drawback of long waiting times during the first import of the data into Seismon.

Seismon 1.3.3 released
I have added a new release because of a bug in one of the scripts to test the Seismon database connection. So only a minor change is included in this release.

Seismon 1.3.2 released
After a quite long period of no releases, a new version of Seismon is now available. After the long time between version 1.3.1 and 1.3.2 several major improvements have been added. The event selection tool and the eventmanager have been improved to enable an efficient way to work with event based data. The miniseed library has been improved to support the reading of selected timespans, stations and channels which enables a more efficient import of miniseed data. The miniseed data is not converted to Matlab binary files, the data reading directly uses the miniseed files. This lowers the time needed to import a large amount of data into Seismon significantly.
From this version on, the commercial Matlab Database Toolbox is not needed anylonger. A customized Java class replaces the Database Toolbox functions.

Seismon 1.3.1 released
I have added a new Seismon release version 1.3.1. As you can see, I have opened a new minor branch skipping the 1.2.x minor branch. This is because release 1.3.1 includes some major database changes which resulted in avalanche like changes in the code (that’s also why it took me so long to release this version). The current release is still not considered as stable and therefore I had to skip the 1.2.x minor release branch.

Seismon 1.1.3 release
Seismon 1.1.3 includes some major enhancements in the display of single or multiple stations and channels.
I have also added the event_detect package which provides the possibility to automatically detect events using a spectrogram pattern extraction algorithm. A paper with a short description of this algorithm can be found here.
Get the new release from the Sourceforge download page.
Please provide me with feedback about problems or success during installation and usage. I’m trying to do my best to make Seismon work on all systems, but I don’t have the possibility to test it on all possible configurations. So your feedback is one of the most important things during the development process.

Seismon at the EGU General Assembly 2009
I’m going to present Seismon at the European Geoscience Union General (EGU) General Assembly 2009 in Vienna from the 19th to the 24th of April 2009. You can find me in the poster programme of the Open Session on Seismology on Monday the 20th of April.
Here are the details of my poster presentation:
XY792 EGU2009-4266 Seismon - a flexible seismic processing software
S. Mertl and H. Hausmann
Poster Programme / Halls X/Y / Mon, 20 Apr, 08:00–19:30
Attendance Time: Monday, 20 Apr 15:30–17:00
I will also demonstrate the features and the usage of Seismon on a laptop.
Everyone is invited to meet me at the poster to get some more information about Seismon or just to say hello.
Looking forward to meeting you there,
Stefan.

Seismon 1.1.2 released
Seismon version 1.1.2 is released and ready for download from the sourceforge download page.
This release includes some bug fixes to make Seismon really run on various computer systems.
Seismon is now using the M_Map toolbox for all mapping applications so there won’t be any need to have the Matlab Mapping toolbox installed. To run some features of Seismon you have to get and install the M_Map toolbox (http://www.eos.ubc.ca/~rich/map.html).
I have also included the TauP Toolkit to calculate traveltime curves.
The new BreqFast package enables automated sending of BreqFast requests. Currently it is designed to work with the Orfeus Data Center BreqFast system. To request data from other data centers there might be some minor tweaks in the code needed (especially in the way the data type is requested).
Greetings,
Stefan.

Seismon 1.1.1 released
Seismon version 1.1.1 is released and ready for download from the sourceforge download page. The versioning scheme (version x.y.z) follows the Linux kernel versioning scheme. So x stands for the major release number, y represents the minor release number and z indicated the patch level. An uneven minor release number indicates an unstable (still under development) version, an even minor release number indicates a stable release.
As you can see, Seismon-1.1.1 is defined as unstable. I did this, because there is still some work to do in the tracedisplay package and I also expect some problems if people start using Seismon on different systems.
I also created some tutorials guiding you through the first steps with Seismon. Please download the current release and the documentation and let me know about your problems or, more welcome, your success. To report any problems, suggestions or just comments you can use the Seismon Forum or the Seismon BugTracker.
I’m looking forward to your feedback,
Stefan.
